I am upgrading to a DDR2 setup after running 1 Gig of PC3200 DDR 1 for a few years. I am getting 4 GB no matter what, but i need an opinion. I can get PC5400 (667 Mhz) at 4-4-4-12 timings, OR i can go with PC6000 (800 Mhz) at 5-5-5-15 timings. Which would provide better performance. Here are my specs

    Athlon AM2 X2 3800+
    Undecided mobo
    7600GT graphics
4 gigs of the ram you help me decide on

I do a lot of gaming and am running Windows vista ultimate so i just need an opinion on what will maximize performance ESPECIALLY in games

faster clock speeds will give you better performance. MaximumPC did an article on this a little while back and higher mhz is better than tighter timings. just make sure that you get a mobo that supports that speed or it will be a waste. Are you going to OC it at all?

yeah i'm gonna OC it if i can...I have heard that proc can go up over 2.5 or 2.6 so we will see. I chose a high end foxconn board that has showed OC's over 800Mhz
