I was thinking about getting some more Ram for my old computer. It has 1G right now in two slots. It's limit is rated at 2g total or 1G per slot. Would it help me any to take a 512 out and put a 1G in it's place or would it be better to get two 1G cards and replace both 512's? I'm not sure how far my ram is going past 100% when doing stuff, so how much to get is the question? I guess I could get one and see how much good it does?

Well first what kinda Computer is it So we can check on the Specs.
Is it a home built or from Company.
And if your going too do this make sure you get the same kinda ram.It will run much better with the same kind then having two different kinds.

Thanks for the responses. It's a tough decision to make, not because of the cost but whether I'll see much difference in improvement afterwards. BTW, I've already ran the Crucial system scanner and found what I need. The computer is probably around 10 years old and has an AMD Sempron 2200+ CPU, A Biostar Via motherboard, and a 120G Western Digital hard drive. I've gone through a bunch of cleaning and tweaking recently but am still not happy with a few things.

This appears to be the mobo, according to the chipset spec:

Stick with whatever Crucial suggests, and max it out would be my advice considering the CPU capability. You could probably get a couple Mushkin sticks for about $50.
