    i bought a E.system machine
noticed that i only had 512 RAM
which for vista causes some problems
so i downloaded and ran pcwizard 7
and it told me my current RAM module was :
    DDR2-SDRAM PC2-4300 (266 MHz)

    so i went online
bought another RAM module exactly the same
    it arrived
    i took appart my pc
only to find that the label on the actual RAM said that it was 4200
and according to the shop i got it from it should of came with a 5300

i was wondering if n e on could shed some light on this
and possibly tell me what ram my mother board supports
this is what pcwizard says about my mother board

    General Information :
    Manufacturer : DIXONSXP
    Product : P4M900-8237A
    Version : Unspecified
    Support MP : Yes, 1 CPU(s)
    Version MPS : 1.4

    hope that helps :D

Upon looking for info for your motherboard, I never really found a true manufacturer (like Asus, or MSI for example). There's a good chance that your MB is an ECS or a BioStar. I do know that the chipset is VIA 8237. Is this a picture of your motherboard? http://umart.net/au/popup_image.php?pID=108731&osCsid=7 And here's a link to some approved memory for your chipset: http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/chipsets/memory_validation/p4m900_667.jsp It is all DDR2 667/PC2-5300 which is the recommended speed for the chipset.... can't really tell you much more without a manufacturer name....

I cannot find anything under Dixons name, either, like Hopperdave2000
All the others show pc 5300 (667) in a P4M900-8237A system

couple of the parts are different coloured but its the same one
    thanks for the help
you reckon a 4300 would work?
i cba to send this one back lol....it'd be easier to juss order a second one and pair them together

Physically check the one installed in your motherboard - if its the same o.k, but if not I would advice pc 5300.
