Ram increase causes problems

I just increased my Ram, and now when I turn on my desktop, I see many shades of nothing, as my computer no longer activates either of my monitors. I tried removing the new ram and seeing if it was simply a power draw problem, but it seem the problem remains across the board. How do I fix this?

The problem has evolved. Now the computer starts, but won't recognize the existence of the extra Ram, even though 32 Vista is supposed to be able to run 4 gigs and I added 2. This is all much more difficult than I thought it would be. The motherboard recognizes the Rams existence, but Vista stubbornly refuses to use the Ram I have given it.

Actually, 32bit operating systems can only address a little over 3gb (I think it's approx 3.2gb), but having the 4gb shouldn't matter. You could install 8gb and your OS would still only address and use 3.2gb. How much memory is Vista displaying as being installed? How many memory slots do you have? How much RAM is in each slot? What type of RAM are you using? What is the make and model of the motherboard?
We need some more info from you to be of much help here. ;)

(at least you got the video working again!)

Now displaying 4 as being installed. 4 installed in 1 gig sticks across 4 slots. 1 gig from Buffalo and the mobo is a MSI P6N Diamond. And I was unaware that 32 bit could only handle 3.2. My understanding was you only needed 64 bit for over 4, not for 4. That's rather disappointing and may require a future m\purchase I was hoping to not have to make until later.

Is it possible the RAM is running in a format that's not recognized by that particular motherboard? Or at an incorrect speed? Doesn't seem likely, but it's worth checking the BIOS.

The motherboard/ram is running 5 by 5, and the speed is the same all across the board as they are identical sticks, the same as the ones I picked out originally for the system. As far as the bios is concerned, everything is golden. I have had my computer running more smoothly in terms of no more stops and halts and chugging, but ever since I installed the ram certain games and programs are crashing more often, which alarms me.
