How much difference in overall computer speed will I see going from 333mhz to 400? How about 333mhz to 500 DDR of course? Is it negligible? Thanks for the advice.

You have to have a 400MHz/200FSB CPU so the RAM is in sink... Otherwise, you could run the RAM at 400MHz but it wouldnt do much good since they arent "in sink". But theres not a MAJOR difference.

Oh, yes definitely, you DEFINITELY want to turn it up to 200MHz.

WOW was looking on newegg.com and can pickup 512mb ram Pc3200 for $37.00.

Do you think I will NOTICE a difference? Now, I was looking on the winxp system performance meter thing, and says I have like 400mb of unused ram. I currently have 1 gig (2 512's) Should I replace my 2nd 512 with 1 gig, so I will have 1.5 gig ram? I want to see more speed. So should I go with 1.5 Gig Pc3200 ram?

What about hard drive? Will that have any performance increase if I go from what I'm currently running which is 200gig 7200rpm ata/133 2mb cache AND 60gig 7200rpm ata/100 2mb cache

    TO

    300gig 7200rpm SATA/150 16mb cache???

I'm looking to improve system. Thanks.

No, I'm saying should I swap the one 333mhz chip for a 400mhz chip? I have ONE 400mhz chip in there now. Should I swap the other?

Also should I touch the hard drive?

The 400Mhz chip is good... You can touch the harddrive, it wont hurt anything.

so will I have "Bragging rights?" Or will I see a noticeable difference in going to 400mhz ram with the better hard drive?

how do you know when you have way more than enough ram ? I have a gig now, and am thinking about buying another 1 gig, replacing that with my 512 so I will have total 1.5 gig ddr400. worth it?

Run the applications you use most. See what the ram useage is.

1gb is probably not overkill for most users that also play games.

I have 2gb, and in some games, it will use 1gb+ on its own.

As for seeing a difference going to 400 from 333, you wont see any eye popping, jaw dropping performance increase.

I added 2 more sticks of 512mb to my computer and per AMD specifications, the motherboard dropped the speed of the ram to 333.

My games and applications still run just as smooth as ever.
