Ram Not Registering

I have a problem with my ram, I have 2 GB of corsair ram in the form of 4 sticks. I bought these sticks of ram at different times so they are not identical but my computer only registers one GB. I have the GA7n400Pro2 motherboard by gigabyte. I have tried rearranging the sticks in my computer in various different orders to no avail. I believe that I may be in dual channel mode and simply need to turn it off to get my computer to see the other 2 sticks of ram that I recently purchased. However, the bios has no such feature that I am aware of because I couldn't find it. I do not know what bios version I have off hand but if it is an important piece of information I can find out. I do need the extra memory though because I work a lot with programs to mix and master audio files such as Sequoia, Pro Tools, and Nuendo, these programs let you work off of the ram and there are certain times when I need to. I would like to fix the problem so that there are no barriers on my work. Otherwise I would have no need to have that much memory.
    Thank you

Do you mean one of each kind? or both of the same kind. I had 2 in before and it registered one GB. I put the other two in, and it did nothing.

Ok so I put in 2 different sticks
    got one GB of ram
added one more got 1.50 GB of RAM
added the last one, and I was back down to 1 GB!
I thought that maybe it was because I had a bad stick, not true, i switched em out, and still had 1.5 GB if I have all four slots filled though, I get knocked back by .5GB and I have no Idea why. I've tried many different ways of putting the ram in different slots and stuff. Can this motherboard handle this much ram?
I can't seem to find that answer on gigabytes website. again I have the GA7n400Pro2
    thanks

Based on nVIDIA chipset specification, the motherboard you have only support 3 DIMM slots officially. When a MB comes with GIGABYTE unique memory H/W deisgn, the board you have can provide the extra DIMM slot and make users get better flexibility on H/W installation/expansion. But, because the quality of memory modules in retail market is uneven, thus, when you install 4xDDR400 memory modules on the motherboard, our MB BIOS will decrease memory speed to make sure most system will bootup properly.
    straight off Gigabytes website
guess I can't do it, I need to buy a 1 GB stick
    Thanks for your efforts

You can download the manual for your board from Gigabyte's site at <http://tw.giga-byte.com/Download/Download.asp?DownloadPath=/MotherBoard/FileList/Manual/manual_7n400v(pro2)_e.pdf>. See page 17ff.

I just bought 2 1 GB sticks of ram off of Newegg, I have 2 sticks of 512 that I don't need cause I just hooked up my girlfriends comp with the other one, and I guess I'll just be crazy and run 2.5MB of ram. If you guys want em you guys got em. Thanks for all your help and time.
I don't remember what I paid for em, or any of the specs other than they are made by corsair and the CAS latency is 3 They are like 2 months old. E-mail me at thedagem@hotmail.com we'll cut some sort of deal.
    Thanks again.

XP1 I would trade, but I for some odd reason like corsair as my ram manufacturer, I find them to be the most reliable. Thank you for the offer though that is very nice of you.
