Generally speaking, jumpers really have nothing to do with memory.... be sure the power cord is unplugged from the PC before doing ANYTHING! Wait 30 seconds or so for everything to discharge (many motherboards stay 'hot' even when the PC is turned off). OPen the case and check everything; something may have come loose while you were installing the new RAM. Check all cables (both data cables and power cables) to the drives and the motherboard and make sure everything is firmly connected. Check all the cards (video card, modem, sound card, etc) and make sure that they are all seated firmly all the way in the respective slots. Make sure all the power connections from the power supply are connected properly and making good contact (no loose connections). Check all the RAM; remove each stick and re install it, making sure that it's in all the way and that the clips are 100% closed. Check the video cable to the monitor and make sure it's plugged in firmly to the video port. Check the keyboard and mouse cables too. To be thourough, you can reset the BIOS by using either the jumper (check your motherboard manual), or by removing the CMOS battery for a couple of minutes (make note of how it goes back in; don't put back in backward or upside down!). Plug the power cord back in, and power up. If you still get nothing, start disconnecting/removing devices one at a time (unplugging the power cord each time) until it does power up... it's more or less a process of elimination.... good luck!!

You may know this 'generic' information, but have you actually gone thru the PC and done all the crap-ola I described? I know it's a PITA, but you may just nail the cause of your problems... In your first post you said your MB is a GeForce 6100 M7; what brand? And is that the exact model number? I'll try to help you with some less 'generic' info if you can supply more accurate info about the motherboard ;) Thanx!

Speaking from the personal experience of doing tech support for a RAM-manufacturer... you'd be surprised at how often a situation just like the one you describe is caused by the memory simply not being fully seated. The fact that your original memory isn't working either supports this theory.

Also, plug in your speakers, turn them on, and note exactly what the beep codes you get sound like. How many long, how many short, how many in total, et cetera? those beeps are motherboard error messages. Google for "<motherboard make and model number>" + beep codes for a "dictionary".

What hopperdave suggested is to do simple, basic, trouble-shooting, which really is the easiest way to nail down the cause of your problem. Once you know what caused it, you know how to fix it. Don't spurn help that's offered free of charge, just because it's "generic". So is your situation--memory installation problems are not limited to your specific motherboard or memory.

Speaking of your memory, a little more information about the modules would be helpful. :)

geforce is the brand and 6100 m7 is the model number, and yes i have tried thing that were said, minus a few like sound card and video card because mine is on board. i have made sure the ram was in the slot correctly and the prongs close all the way, i just taking it in to be repaire even though its goign to be a simple soultion i just dont have the time to deal with it any more not with my job. i wasnt being rude about free information, i was frustrated about hearing the same thing i have already tried and i did say thank you thank thankyou over and over again my post. sorry if that wasnt evident

Ouch. It does sound a lot like a board issue. Good luck getting it fixed! Let us know how it ends :)
