Ram Problems

i installed 128mb RAM on a Windows Millenium computer, but for some odd reason it only added 10MB to the current 28mb Ram, can anyone help? =/

Where are you getting these readings from?

How much does the Bios report?

 

Which mobo?

 

im getting this from the general tab in system properties.

 

What does the Bios report the memory as?

how do i check this?

 

You might not have to enter the Bios to do it.

As the computer boots up, right at the start you should get a POST screen momentarily.

A black screen with white writing on it.

That should tell you how much RAM is being detected.

If it moves too fast for you, press the Pause__Break key on your keyboard.


If this screen has been disabled then you will need to enter the Bios.

Something is screwed with your Bios.

Try resetting the motherboard's CMOS jumper and checking the manufacturer's website for any known issues or limitations, and make sure you are only using Fail-Safe Defaults in the Bios settings.
