RAM question

I need to get more RAM for my computer but I got completely confused by the questions that were asked by the salesperson. In this thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=147469 , you can see my specs. The salesguy implied that I was a complete idiot because I could not supply a brand name for my computer. I kept telling him that it was a custom built computer and I don't think it has a brand name.

I still need to buy more RAM and need to know what to ask for. Can someone please help me?

This is what you need, how much you buy depends on whether you have 32 or 64 bit Windows (or if you intend changing to 64-bit soon).

 

I have 32 bit computer. I don't know anything about upgrading to 64 bit. And thanks for trying to help but I still don't know what I need because there are too many choices listed there.

 

Just knowing you run 32-bit helps (I have the same 'board but running 64 bit).

Realistically you are only going to be able to use about 3 - 3.2GB of RAM in 32 bit Windows because of the way Windows reserves resources for BIOS, drivers and the graphics card (yours needs 512MB of RAM reserved).

The only 1GB kit they have ($28) is a slightly slower speed than the RAM on the spec. sheet, using this would lower the speed of all RAM fitted. I would opt for the 2GB option (£34) at the same 6400 speed as your current RAM.
