ram questions

hi! i have a few questions re: ram

1. how do i find out if i have ddram or sdram or whatever it is without opening the pc?
2. if i have one kind of ram, will i be able to put another kind of ram? the last time i opened the pc i think i saw two different kinds of slots for ram.

You can use the Crucial Memory Advisor to determine what type and how much RAM you have installed.

Results should look like this:

The amount and type you have installed is shown at the bottom-left.

 

Go to ether of the follow web sites. Both have a scan to check what is in your PC, what type of memory your PC take and what are your options to upgrade are.

It's not wise to mix RAM...
Used what the scan states should be in your system.
Mixing RAM can make your system unstable.
