Different ways of representing a megabyte.

Sometimes it's calculated as 1,000,000 bytes

Other times it's calculated as 1,048,000 bytes

    184 x 1,048,000 ~ 192,000,000

i've used memtest86 before, very effective and reliable...

Agreed, its rediculous (memory like most other things computer work in binary 1000000000 bytes in binary = 1,048,000 ) but im not complaining means i get a couple of extra bytest of memory ;)

You could try booting the system with only one stick of ram, but if its only 64MB and running XP, then i REALLY dont suggest it. it sounds like old ram. PC100 is like dirt these days, you may as well just get a new one.

Haha, you think thats funny? i had 2k pro running on 24MB of pc133 ram (shared video), as a web server, and UT server. It supported 5 people, PLUS 5 bots as well! but talk about laggy. Obviously i dont make a habit of it but it was more of a dare, which basically consisted of :
    "hey, my old computer sucks!"
"oh come on it cant be that bad"
    "yeah it can!"
"i bet you could run a server on it"
"dont you need loads of ram and stuff to do that?"
    "nah"
    "a tenner says it does"

and so the next lan party (well, of sorts) i went to, i took that box with me and we tested it. it didnt crash, which was the main thing. I was gunna put 2k advanced server on it, but it needs 32MB minimum, lol.

Oh yeah and i was suggesting to get new ram, not a new computer :p. ive got 32MB sitting around here.. works fine, came from my old server. unfortunatley overseas shipping will cost more than the memory is worth.
