Ok here's the thing. I wanted to buy new RAM for my computer but I had no idea what one to get. Doing the sensible thing I opened up my tower and found the RAM that was already installed which is Kingston 512MB (KVR533D2N4/512)

Now I went through google and typed in the KVR code and found matches to buy. I found what appeared to be the exact same thing as what I have in the computer already but when it arrived today, not only is it SMALLER than my original RAM it doesn't fit.

What the heck do I do??

Appears you have DDR2 ram, that should be a cheap inexpensive upgrade from your local shop
Depending on your mother board, if it accepts 2 gigs total or 4 I can't say as I dont know what mobo you have. Get yourself some ddr2, a 2 gig stick should cost about 20-40$
Return what you bought or sell it, choice is yours there

Umm thanks but that is what I got. Looking at the invoice in front of me this is what I ordered:

    Kingston 512Mb Memory, Pc2-4200 (533Hz) DDR2, 240-pin, DIMM, NON ECC, CL4 (KVR533D2N4/512)

Sorry my point was to upgrade from the 512 to 2 or 4 gig, it will breathe new life into your system and the cost difference between the 512 and say a 2gig will be minimal.

Thank you, sorry for the misunderstanding. But can I do that? Just by whole new ram and get rid of the others?

Go to crucial.com with IE and run their analyzer and you'll see what RAM is recommended and how much you can install in there. I haven't heard of that failing yet. Sounds like you bought the wrong kind.:(

Let us know what happens. You can always return the RAM to quality vendours, especially if they sent you the wrong stuff. Good luck.:)
