RAM type?

how would i find out my max memory speed? i bought the laptop from a guy, and he told me it has 2 slots for the ram, the one non accessable one, and the one that is, and the non accessable one in the description, says its pc3200 but when i asked him what type to get he said pc2700... and anyone elaborate?

 

I'm assuming you are running some version of MS Windows. If so, I suggest you download the program Everest here at MG and install it:

This is a free program that can tell you a bunch of information about your computer . . . such as the type and amount of ram it has, motherboard model, processor type and speed, etc. Some computers will reveal more info then others, depending on how advanced their componants are.

If you can determine the type of motherboard your laptop has you can search the internet and find info on how much memory (ram) the board can support.
