Hey! I just got new RAM (pc2700, 512mb x2). After I installed them my laptop wouldn't turn on. Can anyone help me out with this? I'm almost 100% sure I got the correct type of RAM... I scanned my system on crucial.com and got the same kind. Ideas?

    Thanks!

Be sure both sticks are seated good, then try one new stick with one old stick, see if it will boot, then try other new stick with old stick, possible one bad stick, or wrong ram. ed

    Did you do this?
If not, go to Dell and search for the latest BIOS update for the Inspiron 5100 notebook. It might be too much memory for the computer to recognize using the current BIOS.
Memory for Dell Inspiron 5100: PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs (you are okay at 2700, it will just operate at the slower speed).
