Would someone be so kind as to verify/confirm for me that this (screenshot-attached) should be all I need to know, when purchasing another 2GB of RAM...?

My understanding is that if I match this Hyundai stick exactly, that will afford me the best optimization of my RAM (and will MAX me out).

    I am reading this as:

    SLOTS: 2

    Slot 1 - Hyuandai 2048 MB (= 2GB), DDR3 (PC3 - 10700), 667 MHz (DDR3 1333) - - -

    Slot 2 - Empty

    correct, please?

Yes but your motherboard is more important. Given the cost of RAM these days you may find that you could actually get some faster RAM and buy two new sticks for not much more than the one.

As far as matching the brand goes, you don need to worry two much. You can see matched pair of RAM but all this means is that they come from the same production batch and were contructed under the same conditions so are more closely matched than two sticks from different batches. The actual performance benefit of a matched pair in todays world is questionable. If you dont want to get two new dims then simply get the best stick your budget will allow (as long as it is the same spec ie. 2GB PC10700) and you will be fine.

Ok, well thanks, but I am not sure what all this means, please...?

"motherboard is more important" - what can I do with that info? I mean, I am sure I won't be swapping-out a brand-new motherboard, I just bought this about three weeks ago.

"some faster RAM and buy two new sticks" - I am DEFINITELY up for this idea, but would have no clue whatsoever what that means either (the stuff with heat-sinks and such?), please?

    Thanks again and in advance...
PS - I can't seem to find this "Hyundai" RAM anywhere. I would "like" to match exactly if I can, that is, if I end-up not being able to get the two faster sticks you're speaking of...

OHHHH! Is this what you mean...matching RAM to this (screenshot)?

Kind of. You motherboard is more important to consider when purchasing new RAM. th stick that you currently have runs at 1333MHz on DDR3 this equates to a CPU clock speed of 166MHz, according to the screenshots your board will support up to 1600MHz so if you bin your existing RAM and bought 2 new modules that run at 1600MHz your CPU clock would be upped to 200MHz and give you an overall system performance boost.

The issue over matching is that you cant have a 1333MHz chip and a 1600MHz chip in the same board at the same time. However you can have one chip from Crucial and on for Kingston

For what it costs I would consider something like this

This would be your other option If you dont want to bin your existing but you would only have 4GB and it would be running slower

Wow - thank you VERY much!!! This is the REAL MEAT & POTATOES type of reply I really appreciate! A bit deep (for me anyway) but forces me to think, and ask a question or questions (which are now coming).

    1. "Bin" means "setting aside"?
    2. Are you sure about Option #1 that you gave me (though you MUST be, correct?). My understanding is that "4GB" is the MAX I can run, regardless...

PS ~ I am ALL FOR ANY Perform. B00ST I can squeeze outta this little machine (and am willing to PAY a bit more to do it), however, I don't want to do anything at this early juncture to VOID my warranty...I've only had this machine about 3 weeks now . . .

Sorry, that is my UK localisms comming out we refer to trash cans as bins hence the term binned meaning to throw away.

In theory, I dont think it should invalidate your waranty as your original components are still covered under the original warranty and the new are covered by by their own waranty. The only caveat with that is that they might not like you taking out the old RAM. I would check with the retailer before you open your case.

I dont know what your board is but if it is only three weeks old and using DDR3 I would expect it to handle at least 16GB if not 32GB. The 4GB limit may come into play if you are running a 32bit version of windows as that will not use more than 4GB.

Post a Speccy Log of your system and Ill look at your system limitations. Make sure you remove your Windows serial before posting the log though.

Thank you very much (and by-the-way, and speaking of "caveats", I need to mention the same "The keyboard on my laptop is terrible so I apologise for any letters missing from posts!" - except in my case it's the mouse/touch-pad that jumps ALL OVER the place...I think it may be a static-electrical thing?) In any event . . .

    This is a 64-bit OS.

I will post immediately what I have on-board here already. Not certain if you are asking for the WIN7 Spec-Log offering (or "where", exactly, to find the best this machine/OS offers just yet. I will post the Basic "System" window info (WITH I.D. Key blocked/removed).

Again, I will post what SIW and BeLarc provided in their scans, and poke-around for the WIN7 location of specs (and THANK YOU MUCH for mentioning to block-out/remove my serial number. I usually do those things, but reminders are GREAT~!~
PS - Please let me know if this will suffice for intended purposes . . .

    One more (for good measure??), though I believe it's duplicate data/info. . . . ?

Didn't see any serial to remove from here. . . .

GOOD LORD!!!???!!! I just added this BeLarc-Advisor program score(s), and not only does MS/Windows NOT seem to be getting me all my updates (which I simply leave set on "Automatic", but the Security Score ("0.63/10") (circled in Red, top left) appears HIDEOUS ???!!!??? Yes, please?

neither of my RAM links will work as they are for desktops. The crucial site that you posted in your previous link will get you the right gear.

    What is your Security concern?

Thanks - I left a serial number in the second screen-shot of the previous post!

System serial number isn't an issue, I dont think. It is only your windows serial that is an issue.

I should have said given that you are running a laptop, Iwould stick with existing RAM and get an extra 2GB

    Re: "UK localism"/RAM Upgrade Question(s)...

Actually wanted to thank you, also, for sharing your "UK localism" ("bin") with me/us here . More specifically, the definition ... really good to know these sorts of things - especially around a place such as this (MG'S) ~!~

That's actually my grandson there, in my Profile Pic, "BINNING" something or other ... likely a cell phone, or house-keys or keys to the car ... you know, "normal" things one might bin . . . :confused :cry

    :) ;)

    So thanks again!
