RAM upgrade

    I want to upgrade RAM and didn't know the difference between 256MB 168 pin ECC PC-133 SD RAM and
    256MB 168 pin PC-133 SD RAM The only difference I could see was about $25.00. Also is there any difference in quality between purchasing this from DELL or an after market supplier such as (Tiger Direct). I am running windows XP service pack 2, 1gighertz processor, Dell dimension 4100 Thanks, Charlie

    There is no reason to consider ECC SDRAM on the machine you have.Its chipset does not support it. Well, actually, they may work, but not in ECC mode, so...
