To all you out there in forum land, hello!

Before I ask my question, here's my build:
    Core i7 965
    3 sticks of 1GB Corsair DDR3-1066 rated at 1.5v
    3 sticks of 2GB OCSZ DDR3-1066 rated at 1.65v
    P6T Deluxe v1 Mobo
    ATI 4870 512MB Graphics
    750 Watt PSU

Everything is currently running at stock settings.

    So, for my question.

As you've probably noticed, I have two different sets of RAM in my computer right now. I can't seem to find anything that actually tells me what the current voltage for my RAM is, in the OS (Everest) or in the BIOS. In the BIOS, the section for changing the RAM voltage is currently set to AUTO, but I'm not sure if I'm shortchanging the 1.65v or harming the 1.5v sticks. Considering some of the things I've heard about RAM and overclocking, it seems to me that the 1.5v sticks wouldn't be harmed by pushing the voltage up to 1.65v, but the problem is that I can't figure out what the voltage is at all. Also, if I manually put in a voltage, it only lets me do so in .02v increments, making it so I'm either running at 1.64v or 1.66v, one of which would be too small and the other of which my Mobo (And every forum post I've seen so far) says will kill my processor, and I'm not really willing to replace that.

So, sorry for the rambling paragraph.

    Thanks,
    -GameSageZB

You'll be right putting them both 1.66 as long as there is sufficient front to back air flow and good RAM cooling ... remember your RAM voltage doesn't affect you CPU ... there are other settings for that ... you've got a weird set up there ... its all over the place ... why?

Under normal circumstances, yes, I'd just stick it at 1.66v, but, the Core i7's seem to have this weird thing about RAM being at a higher voltage than 1.65. I'm not sure about it, though.

What do you mean that my build is all over the place?

Well your Graphics Card is ... good at best ... and your RAM is a little slow for an i7 ... when I think of an i7 I think of real fast, good GC really good RAM just wondering why you opted for the slower components

Well, I was looking at the 4870 512MB and 1GB, and reviews were saying that there wasn't much difference. Turns out those are wrong. Also, the benchmarks that I saw put the 4870 above the 280 and 260, and the 4890 and 295 were not out when I bought it.

The 4870X2 was just simply out of my price range.

Besides, from what I hear, while RAM timings are important, with the triple channel memory, they start becoming not quite as important, and a 6-6-6-17 or some such thing starts costing about 300. The new RAM that I just bought was for $40, when it's normally $140.

Besides, other than Crysis, show me a game that actually uses it. And anything that I'm going to run otherwise is going to use the processor more than anything.

Fair enough ,,, ey I've just finished playing Assassins Creed and heard alot of good things about Crysis ... loved Assassins Creed cant wait for number two ... whats Crysis like?
