I have a couple of old computers which I want to dismantle and replace older bits in my main computer. The RAM is giving me problems.

I take out the RAM from the parts computer and put it along side the RAM in my main computer but when the PC boots up I just get a black screen.

I can't tell what the RAM is because there is no label.

    Any ideas?

The RAM is incompatible......can you give mobo specs on your main?

I can' I'm afraid, I'm away from that PC at the moment.

    So it is incompatible.
I thought this might be the case. It's happened to me before.

How many different ways can the RAM be incompatible? I've tried it out on about three different PCs so far, all with the same result.

    Cheers Crawler.
