Ram ?

Hello I am going to be building another custom Rig. And although I understand ram & mother Board specs somewhat. I need some help on this, ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe/HDMI AM2+. I plan on using a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 on this m/b.
And the m/b specs say that with a am2 cpu the standard ram is 1066. So does this mean I cant use the 4 gb of Corsair ram I already have? Its 240 pin same as the m/b calls for but the speed is 800 & not 1066.

I can see why you are confused, I did a search one says it demands 1066 the other shows more choices. Can't hurt either to try what you have, though the 1066 will more than likely give you the best performance.

Depending on MB BIOS options, yes the DDR2 800 RAM should work.

Just "underclock" the RAM in the bios, try and get it as close to 800Mhz as possible. You cant do much harm, it will shutdown before much happens and even if it does then you know you need 1066 RAM.
