ok I visited my uncles today and he had a chip and some RAM laying around he gave me, a 2.0 GHz Xeon and 2 GB Kingston KTC800E RAMBUS memory.

My current system is a P4 3.0 GHz with 1 GB PC3200 DDR RAM. I dont see too many RAMBUS boards out there, I was wondering if the extra gig would be worth the price of getting a new board and if RAMBUS is faster than the 3200. Im having a tough time finding anything about RAMBUS with newer processors.

    Thanks for any input.

RAMBUS is sort of dead. It was really pushed out as the next great thing when P4's first came out, but it never really caught on and few people use it. Anyone looking to go faster then PC3200 now just buys DDR2 memory instead of rambus. I wouldn't really suggest going out of your way to use it. If you have a board that uses it go ahead, but otherwise it's not worth the effort.
