Ramnit help

    So i woked up this morning and saw eset reporting over 1000 detected ramnit infections. Been scanning with eset smart security all morning (not an easy task with my 6tb hard drive) and managed to decrease the infected files below 700 so far. But from what I read this thing is a real pain to remove so I want to ask the experts here the best way to hopefully remove it.

    Im still performing the 3 recomended system scans using eset smart security so I can't post any logs yet. But in the meantime some questions.

    1. Can I just use eset smart security instead of the web scanner for the same effect and if so can I exclude some file extensions like. Iso.. Rar and. Mkv?

    2. If worse comes to worst what would be he best way to backup some of my data? I'm. Primarily interested in backing up my videos and maybe some other stuff I just can't remember.

    Let me just warn you up front that many times a computer must be reinstalled from scratch to properly remove Ramnit and to fix the damage that it causes to your computer, which can be unpredictable.

    Any program installed on your PC is already likely infected and thus cannot be fully trusted and could just spread the infection to more files. You don't want to exclude anything from the scan.

    While Ramnit has been seen to focus more on EXE, DLL, and HTML files, it can infect any executable type file including videos especially MPG, MPEG, AVI, and similar. If you back up any files, you will have to make sure that you fully scan the backup from a clean PC before reusing them at all.
