Ran CCleaner and now I can't log into any IM programs or check my e-mail

So, I ran CCleaner, like it said I should in the maintenance thread, and when I came back to it this morning, I couldn't log on to AIM. I figured it was just AIM being dumb the way it can normally be, but then I tried logging into MSN and it wouldn't let me do that either.

I thought maybe I had an Internet problem, but I clicked on Mozilla Firefox and that worked fine and it set me on my homepage at Yahoo!, but when I tried to sign in to check my mail, it led me to an error screen (page can't be loaded or whatever). I tried it again on Hotmail and it didn't let me in there, either. However, when I tried logging into the various message boards I'm a part of and MySpace, I didn't have any problems.

When I ran MSN's troubleshooting program thing that comes with the messenger, it said it had something to do with key ports. I don't know what I can do to fix that, so any help is appreciated.

    i don't understand?
are you sure that you only ran CCleaner it is a very safe programme.

with hotmail sometimes you have to retype your E mail address

but other than that i have never seen a problem confused

Yes, I only ran CCleaner, but I did also have a few programs running at the time I was running it and shut them off sometime after I started it. It ran for a good long time and I left it running when I went to bed last night and cleaned up the registry this morning. Then, I defragged today using Diskeeper (just for the record). Also, the thing is, whenever I try to log in, it gives me a "problem loading page" message, if that helps you at all.

    "Unable to connect

    moments.

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

i think you would be better posting in MALWEAR REMOVAL this sound like it's time to let the pro's have a look.

normally CCleaner only needs 2 or 3 min to search.

    good luck
