    Hi There,
    This is really weird...
I asked or help on the malware forums and seems I'm clean.
So I thought I would run another defrag, sfc /scannow and chkdsk.
The CHKDSK was taking ages (strange as it hadn't the last time).
When i came back to it a black background read cannot detect ...press F1 to continue or F2 for set up. I pressed contine and CHKDSK started again.
I decided to button down and run from disk.
Gotin to repair console and ran chkdsk, it tells me the drive in clean and no point checking it. Tried again and got CHKDSK.....
Got back in to recovery console and did a CHKDSK /R, went to walk dog....
Came back and the machone was off, it was around 64% when I popped out.
Rebooted and standard CHKDSK is running (I'm guessing it's still trying to do it from when I asked as windows hasn't loaded since.)

Its now running CHKDSK again I got deleting index entry with ID 6076 from $sDH of file 9. However got to verifying file data (stage 4 of 5) and its moving so very slow.

I'm considering if it goes the black screen again to choose f2 and go for booting from disk and repair console again.

Will CHKDSK /x c: stop this on start up considering I asked it to before I last exited windows or is there another command to use?
I've seen I can try CHKDSK /f in recovery mode too.

My guess is the battery problem that can cause this isn't at fault otherwise I recovery couldnt report back on its state?

Just seems so odd it should happen after a standar windows tool?

Any thoughts welcomed, thank you :)

Back it up if you can immediately. A slow chkdsk scan and the other errors you mention point to a failing hard drive. Your repeated running of chkdsk, or any drive useage really, is only speeding it towards failure, IF that's the problem.

Once you have backed up, you can continue with your ideas without fear of losing your data, otherwise you are on the right track.

    Hi There,
Thanks for the reply and the confidence I'm doing the right things.
After seeing there was a different message on start up I left it to run over night and came down to the wonderful world of windows.

I've back everything up today and gone back to Chaslang on the malware forum as had forgotten I'd used fixMBR. Its seems potentially there is still an infection.

He noticed a partition tha shouldnt be there. He says he has a fix and am just now waiting for him to post.

Have advised what happened last night and that I had made this post also.

So fingers crossed he'll come back very soon :)

Thanks so much, I'm guessing i can give a donation after I get the all clear?
Dont want to log in to paypal until I know for sure as I'm a little worried this other PC has something too...... Oh dear rains and pours lol

    Thank you!!!
