Ran JavaRa, still have core.zips. Delete them manually?

Discussion in 'Software' started by conceptualclarity, Feb 7, 2014.

  1. I ran JavaRa. It got rid of a good number of old versions of Java that were still in Program Files' Java folder. But I still have a fairly sizeable j2re.1.4.2-b28 folder. It has the path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Update\Base Images\j2re.1.4.2-b28, containing core1.zip, core2.zip, and core3.zip.

Is there a good reason JavaRa didn't get rid of these zips? Or should I go ahead and right-click to Delete them? Or is there a preferable way to get rid of them?

    Hi

May find that some Java versions are linked with the likes of Firefox and Chrome browsers, but I would be happy in deleting those folders in Common Files and if an app doesn't work properly as its associated Java has been deleted, then just reinstall the app.

Generally the newer versions of Java do uninstall the older versions by default but its not perfect and some really old versions are left over.
