Ran rocovery and lost files

Hope you can help. I ran recovery (big mistake) and all my icons changed to large ones, I lost photos, files, and windows word and excel, even my anti-spyware, and spybot. I went into system restore and there is only one restore point and that date is the date of the recovery which changes nothing when I run it. I reinstalled spybot and ran it, it came up with 16 problems, I fixed these problems and still nothing has changed. Please help!!!
