Random Audio Blasts

as if i don't have ENUF audio probs (other threads), now i'm getting some sort of 30sec ADS blasting at me at random intervals!

don't last long enuf for me to catch what's happening in task mgr, etc., but my impression (right now) is that they happen even when browser isn't open. media player definitely not open. that is, sitting here with explorer tree (only!) open, and once an hour or so audio kicks on out of nowhere, screaming about mattress or retirement savings or something.

i suspect this is related to the ignores.exe/FormsApp/Fondue popup issue i'm plagued with (other threads; still can't resolve).

MBAM and SpyBot aren't catching it -- some googling reveals people with this end up needing command line tweaks and/or fresh w11 install. both out of my league, but i'm willing to try OTHER av/am apps. SOMETHING has to be able to find/fix this, right?

Never had this issue due to running Malwarebytes,Hitman pro,And Rouge killer.Run Rouge killer first.It will scan for stuff running in the background.

 

ok, stay tuned. roguekiller quick scan found 12 things, including 2 relating to "Ignores.exe", which was a good sign. but then midway thru deep scan, the usual SOUND BLAST came on. meaning: quick scan did bupkis, i suppose.

deep scan found about 16 more. i say "about" b/c i'm thoroughly confused by the results, quarantine, and history panels. thought i quarantined the first batch, but then that all disappeared and i'm only seeing the new batch. so was the first one "deleted" outright?

also can't reliably figure out how to START a scan. dashboard always showing "results"; takes a lot of confusing steps to "finish" that out and get a "scan" button to show back up.

but anyway, i'll manage somehow. i like the scans; it's just the panels and human interaction which are confusing.

will need a couple hours to see whether SOUND BLASTS are now gone. even if not, it looks like it's at least corralled the ignores.exe/FormsApp/Fondue issue, so i'm grateful for that much, at least!

 

PS: didn't realize there were dedicated malware boards. if admin would like to move this thread wholesale, that's fine by me!

seems reasonable enuf, but then those COMMENTS!! my defenses go up when i read "you're a lifesaver!" 25 times in a row. some with matching language.

and not a one saying "didn't work". this is beyond fishy. did the guy who made the video add *ALL* of those comments?!

happy to, but...um...they're not in the loc it claims they are, and the in-app "export report" option says "cannot export".

this may take a while.
