    Hey there fellow geeks,

Not sure if this is the appropriate area, but just thought I'd start a thread on random fixes, in other words they dont teach you that at geek tech, but it works .

One of my favourites is the old unplug p.c from the wall and press the power on at the p.c switch on and off for about 20 to 30 secs. Not an offical fix but if there something not quite right with the unit and you've tried all the stuff you've been taught - and the units still being a pig... Even the "big bossman" geek here does it occassionally.

What exactly does it do, apart from discharge the power to the capacitors on the mobo and potentialy anything in the ram, other than that i couldn't really say, nor precisley the best time when to try it, so when next time when all else fails try this, it may help... depending on the issue...

If you have other undocumented or uncommon fixes or things that have just worked due to superior knowledge and skill or even a fluke fix, then please add this to this thread. It will be interesting to see all the covert :cool fixes or repairs to various issues. Please describe the issue cause if known and the fix in a step by step list saying what you found and what fixed it...

    Cheers :wave
