Ok ok, at first I thought I had isolated my problem, one pc one error. But I was wrong. Anyway I think this might be a router problem but I am not sure and fankly have run out of ides so heres my story...

Today will browsing the internet I lost connection. Come to find out my ISP was having issues, so I think to myself no big deal... However once everything was up and running again on their end, I started having problems.

I could ping an ip like the ip number to yahoo, but could not ping the www.yahoo.com. So my next step was to see if i could browse yahoo by entering in their ip address in the address bar... No go. So possibly a DNS problem right? Well one of the other machines on the same home network was connected without a problem... So i started searching for solutions, I have flushed the DNS, did a win sock fix, released all renew all, and possibly a few other things. My first step before all of the above ofcourse was to do a complete shut down of all pc's (four total in the house), router, and modom. I then booted up my desk top and lap top. No go.

Now here comes the fun part, and fankly the part that has me stumped. So i was thinking that perhaps i had a corrupt reg, or something wrong with a firewall/virus scanner, or even a virus...

HOWEVER: I decided to again do a full restart one more time. THIS time my lap top beat my desktop into full load, and now its my desk top that can not connect to the internet.... o_O

So i do a ipconfig /all to check to see if perhaps my router is assigning the same ip address to both machines.. No go.. All the major gateway dhcp and dns servers appear to be the exact thing. And well i don't know what else to fix.

I would like to point out that as of right now, i am not sure more than one computer can connect to the net in my home. (My roommates being asleep, and their pcs being off.) I didn't think to see if anyone else could connect as I kinda assumed it was just my laptop... Now i don't know what to do.

Ok run down of machines: All xp and All wireless By default that makes the 'wireless' router clear, and we are connected through cable internet.

So, while internet/networking is my weakest understanding of all pc issues, my thoughts is that my router is messing up (something go changed in its settings) or my ISP...

    Thoughts?

Hmm now all connect fine to the internet but nothing was done to 'fix' the issue...

    Anyone experience this ever?
