Hi .. I jus recently switched to XP ... my problem is that i found that when i start my computer and connect to the internet and do some work, then disconnect (dialup connection) a file called .. rasautou.exe causes my connection to start without asking me..
    i noticed that:
if i don't connect to the internet in the first place rasautou.exe wont start my connection. ( just in case of a relation )

I read on some website that there must be some spyware trying to start rasautou.exe .. so i downloaded Ad-Aware .. it did detect some tracking cookies which i deleted .

My problem is that this happens every time i disconnect .. ie .. i have to disconnet .. rasautou.exe keeps repeatedly popping up even if i try to end the process in the task manager and the only solution seems to log off to stop the damn thing from conneting and then come back and run Ad-Aware .. any other solutions .. ?

Is this a problem being caused by cookies or something else ? I have run a full system scan with norton antivirus .. wld any of the following help

changing browser , firewall , antispyware (i did use spybot too .. it only showed me something called DSO Exploit .. which i read was a bug in spybot )

    From Answers That Work:

"Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 Remote Access Dialler. This task will appear in your Task List if your PC or Server is currently handling or waiting to handle an incoming modem based connection from a remote user or system (dial-up modem, ISDN, USB ADSL modems). It will also appear if there is software on your system which needs to dial out automatically whenever a particular event occurs and without waiting for user input.
    Recommendation :
Leave alone unless you know for certain that your PC/Server has no business waiting for an incoming remote connection, or that it should not have software which dials out automatically. If you find that your PC is connecting automatically via RASAUTOU without reason, then run Spybot from our Downloads library in case you may have adware or spyware which is trying to connect to remote servers."

You should run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.
