    Hello-
A friend of mine burned a DVD for me that is a compilation of audio music. He did this on his laptop (Windows7) and used a 4.7GB 16X DVD-R disk. He says it plays on his laptop just fine. The problem I am having is that my home audio/video system doesn't recognize it, nor does my Windows XP Pro pc. When I insert the disk into the ODD on the pc, it shows up in D: as a DVD, but when clicking Properties I am notified there is 0 bytes of data. However, it indicates it is a RAW file. How do I go about accessing the music on this DVD so I can play it on my home and pc systems? :confused
Thanks in advance for any help!

What program did he use to burn the disk?
Since it is on a DVD and it is music, he probably burned it as a data disk when he should have burned it as a MUSIC CD not a data DVD. Also ask what the extension is on those music files.

Thanks for the reply, 'plodr'. According to him, he ripped from cd's using Roxio Easy CD Creator. I'll ask him tomorrow what file ext. he used. I just find it a bit strange that he said it played fine on his laptop.
    Thanks again!

One other thought is ask if he finalized the disc. There should be a setting in Roxio for that (maybe under Recording Methods). Finalizing the disc makes it more compatible with other systems. He should be able to take the disc back and finalize it in Roxio.

When a disc isn't finalized it can be read by the system it was created on but rarely on any outside device or computer.

Thanks, 'sach2'...I guess we learn something new everyday! Personally, I use CDBurnerXP and it does the finalizing automatically, and lets you know so. At the start of the program, one must choose the burning options-ie- audio cd, data, ISO, etc..
    I appreciate your input!
