How do I disable 'write' access to all directories inside macromedia folder of Adobe Flash Player?

If you change the %appdata%\Macromedia folder permissions, most likely Flash Player won't work any more.

Why would anyone have a "low opinion of Global Settings Manager"? It's there to allow you to control what Flash Player and Flash media sites can do on your computer.

Guy on the other provided details on how to use the Global Manager, but ended comments noting "there are better and more reliable means." No details were given on what that was, or why he didn't like the Manager. No response to my followup question, from him or anyone else. Very brief topic search suggests others had problems using Manager to:
    1. Prevent "zombie" cookies.
    2. Fully disable Adobe 'Update' feature.
Thats just first couple pages of Google results. Anyway, if there are other options not using Global Manager, I'd like to know.
