    Hi,

I have been re-directed from the above link in the malware forum due to my logs being clean. I have somehow developed a slow computer that struggles to boot and on the occasion that it does boot it does not want to open programs. It will boot in safe mode and work just fine without any sluggishness whatsoever.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

What version of Windows are you running?

If it's running well in safe mode that means that one of your startups or a driver is probably causing the trouble.

No easy way to troubleshoot that. It's just a matter of getting into the mood to start shutting down startups and reboot to see what happens. The best way I have seen to do this is to shut off half of them (other than Windows processes...leave the Windows ones running) and then reboot. If you don't have the problem, then it's one of the ones you shut off. Reactivate half and reboot and just keep going until you find the one. If it's none of them, then it's probably a driver.

If you have CCleaner it's the easiest tool for shutting down startup processes. Otherwise, type msconfig in the search/run box and start msconfig. Under startups, start disabling startups...

I concur with AtlBo on using CCleaner/tools/startup to see if things are clogging up from the gitgo after booting.
Many application programs on install, default to automatic start up after booting. Also, many default to
automatic updates as well. So, after installing an application, I run it and go to its settings/options to
uncheck autostarts/updates and in some cases, scans.

Frankly, I prefer to autostart only security and operating system related items. So, the basics for me
is firewall and realtime AV/antimalware program along with the windows check for updates.
All other applications can wait until I really want to use them. Gl
