Unfortunately, I don't think anyone here has an install disc that they can send you. You really can't do the re-installation without the DVD. Sorry.

Windows 7 can be downloaded. You will be asked to put in the serial number; if you don't have one, these disks will not help
Downloads can be found here http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/
You also need a DVD burner. Windows 7 burns ISO files without using 3rd party software. You simply right click an ISO file and select Burn Disc Image.

I used one of these disks. I could not get one of my computers to update to SP1 so I used the serial number on the computer, downloaded the ISO with SP1 included and installed that to replace the install that refused to update.

    Hi

With the ISO then follow the below and should work ok as this is the method I use to install Windows these days.

I did not know that. Good to know.
Will a 4GB stick work or should I go with an 8GB stick?

They recommend 4 GB sticks since the ISO is 2.386 GB.

It's interesting that ALL of the ISOs are the same size. I downloaded the Win 7 Ultimate ISO and was going to downlod the Win 7 Professional ISO until I found out it was the same exact size. I expected the Pro to be smaller than the Ultimate since there are less features.

I discovered the same thing after I accidentally downloaded Win 7 Professional, then downloaded what I needed (Win 7 Home Premium). Both ISO files are exactly the same size: 3,320,903,680 bytes. Strange

Apparently, part of the Product Key you enter during setup DOES determine which version is installed. It was that way with XP and Vista too. All of the ISOs contain all of the files necessary to install ANY version.

So one ISO "burned" to a USB 4GB stick should allow you to reinstall Windows 7 to any computer with the serial number on the computer. Now that is efficient!

I've never had success getting a Windows stick to boot. (I make linux bootable sticks all the time with no problem). What software should I use to guarantee that the Windows stick is bootable?

I've used ISO2Disc (not available at MG's) successfully when I tried AOMEI Partition Assistant's Windows to Go feature for Win 8.1.

I know, I did read the article. I never just try one. Since I have over 3 dozen sticks, I can try several and see which I prefer. The link was for me to find the page again when I have time to devote to this.

I have used Universal USB Installer before to install windows 7 and 8 and Ubuntu to USB before installing to PC/laptop.

    Not all at once though.
