I installed a copy of a program called RegistryEasy

I ran the scan and it displayed a number of errors

I backed up the registry using the facility in the software

I then clicked the repair button

The program then showed a dialog box to say that changes would be backed-up I clicked ok

    All seemed fine

    Until I restarted the PC

At restart things appeared as per normal ie

The black screen with Windows screen banner appeared with the progress bar below

The screen then flashes to black then comes on blue with the curser very briefly showing that the PC is "thinking"

Then the blue windows screen shows the curser (which I can move around) and the Windows banner.

I left the PC on and in this state for about 2hrs nothing changed the Windows banner remained there.

Since then I've restarted and pressed F8 and tried opening in "safe mode"

    No result

    What is wrong ?

Has the registry been wiped ?

    I don't get it

Since then I've installed the Hard drive on a spare PC as a Slave drive an have recovered the info and I think I've got most of the info backed up.

    But I'm still concerned.

I found the copy of the backed up registry but don't know how to re-install it to the registry files on what is now my slave drive.

    Any ideas??

    Matthew
