    Hello,

I have some nasty malware on my system and after having discussed the issue on the malware forum I have been told that I need to do a clean install back to the partition in question. (Once I have done that I need to scan all the files I copy back to the system before put them on and then copy the hal.dll to the other system files in the other OS.)

I have wondows XP home on one partition and pro on the other and I need to reinstall the home version.

How do I do this please? Thanks in advance!

It just a matter of a regular installation. except that you will choose which partition to install it to...and format that partition before you re-install it. So just boot to the cd and follow the prompts.

Couldn't they F10 the home partition on boot and go to the Recovery Console and do just the basis format. It will restore it with out losing all the data or re-entry of the product key. Or will they ned to do the advance, which is a complete reinstall

If you don't have a Windows XP Home install CD, then you may dead in the water. One question: why do you have XP Home and XP Pro in a dual boot system? Why not one or the other? Or just Pro (if you need the domain and group policy features)? Anyway.... here's some easy-to-follow guides complete with screen shots:
Clean install of XP: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxpclean1_2.htm (this will erase EVERYTHING; and EVERYTHING really does mean EVERYTHING)
    Repair install of XP: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxprepair1_2.htm

Thanks. How do I format that partition before I re-install it?

I have no idea why, they were both just on the computer when I got it. But only one works anyway!

    thanks,
