    Anyone know of a program so that you can remap numeric laptop keycodes to the same codes as the numeric desktop keyboard codes.
    It would be really handy if you could do so.
    No need for the Fn key combinations then. :cool

    I don't know why the laptop makers don't think of this. Seeing as though they both serve the same purpose, but have different key-codes. Bazza

    i'm not sure if xpadder is what you need, but it's definitely worth a try. you can reassign keyboard keys/mice/joysticks etc.
    it's very powerful and hardly takes up any memory.

    good luck!

    Welcome to Major Geeks, bobby c. :major
    Thanks, I'll give Xpadder a try. :cool Bazza
    PS: Xpadder simulates keypresses and mouse movements using a gamepad.
    Don't think is what I am after. :cry Baz

    Bump, anyone?

    Anyone know of a program so that you can remap numeric laptop keycodes (0-9), to the same codes as the separate desktop numeric keypad codes, so I don't have to use an external keyboard to type in symbols like

    ½ = Alt + 0189 (half)
    £ = Alt + 0163 (Pommie pound)
    é = Alt + 0233 (e acute)
    ° = Alt + 0176 (degree symbol)
    ¥ = Alt + 0165 (Yen symbol)
    © = Alt + 0169 (copyright)
    ² = Alt + 0178 (squared)
    € = Alt + 0128 (Euro)
    Õ = Alt + 0213 (Capital O with tilde)

    Create a text file ( on another computer) with all those extended code characters. Then if you need one, just copy and paste from that text file into your new document. I personally use the "Character Map" applet that comes with Windows. ( charmap.exe )§¨¨©ª«¬*®¯°±²³´µ¶ :)

    I don 't want to extract, or use, characters, I know how to do that. ;)

    I want to re-map the laptop 0-9 keys (in the row at the top of the laptop keyboard, beneath the Function keys), to the same codes as those used in the separate desktop numeric keypad.

    My purpose in asking this is to be able to use characters like ¥ (= Alt + 0165 Yen symbol) in a password when I am using a laptop, with no separate numeric keypad, without having to use the Fn key plus a combination of keystrokes. Hope that clarifies it a bit. ;)

    Thanks solaris89. The displayed keyboard gives me the scancodes for both sets of numeric keycodes. That's a good start.

    I will try KeyTweak tomorrow. It's 10.10pm here right now. Bazza

    What I'd really like is for computer laptop builders to use the numeric keypad codes instead of the laptop numeric codes, but I guess that will never happen in laptops with less than 17" screens. :cry

    Only hardware solution for me is to buy a new laptop with 17" screen, and full 104/105 keyboard built in. :(

    In the meantime, I'll try it today for a software solution, but it obviously won't come into effect until I have loaded Windows, each time. Bazza
