    Hello.
i have windows XP and i my internet keeps buggin out.
    it will work fine...
    then it will quit,
so i just unplug and plug in my modem.
and its fine for an hour or so or 30 mins etc
    then goes out again
so i just unplug plug in again..

I called tech support with my internet provider,
and they reset my tcp ip
and it works fine for a short period..then bugs out again.

they said to contact my computer manufacturer..
    and reinstall my drivers...
so i called them...and they said to reinstall my LAN driver for my pc.
i did that...but alas..still the same problems. (my moboard is a m2a-vm dhmi asus)i have reset my tcp ip ...many times..but it KEEPS quitting out my internet

    any suggestions?

In your situation, there's several steps I'd follow... first, read and follow the steps in this link. If that doesn't help, download and run Dial-A-Fix. Check all the boxes in the Registration Center and the SSL section (sections 4 & 5) and click Go. If that doesn't help, uninstall any network 'optimizing' software that may be installed (like PortMagic which comes bundled with AOL sometimes). You can also try using a different browser; try Firefox or Opera. You can also try using LSPfix or XP TCP/IP Repair. If none of these things work, let us know and we'll try some other things.

    Good luck!

You can try a safe repair of Windows; if you haven't performed a repair install of Windows before, it's actually fairly easy. Just follow the step in this article. You should probably read the article once or twice before you start reloading if aren't familiar with the repair process. Obviously, you'll need your Windows XP install disc and product key, and set the BIOS to boot from the CD first. On the other hand, a PCI ethernet card is only like $25 or less at any PC store, or half that at your local used PC parts store. Keep the recpt and if it doesn't solve the problem you can always return it. On the darker side, I have had similar situations where nothing short of a format and clean reload worked..... good luck!

BTW- have you checked for malware?

EDIT- oh yeah... you can try the system file checker...
First click Start > Run and type cmd and click OK. Now type sfc /purgecache and press Enter. Wait a bit until it's done. Then type sfc /scannow and again press Enter. This can take some time, so be patient. Be sure your Windows XP install CD is in the drive before opening the command prompt window. If you get prompted to insert the CD more than 3 or 4 times, try it in the other CD drive if you have one. Type exit when it's done to close the command prompt window.

    Hi

Alternatives are that the fault lies in your Modem, what type of internet connection do you have, DialUp, DSL, Cable?

Are other people in your area having issues with their internet if using same ISP as it maybe the connection to the local exchange?

I know most folk dont have spares but maybe worth seeing if friend has one or suggest a replacement from your ISP if the supplied it in the first place.
