RE:Updating Bios Question

Hi there,

I have an Asus A8N-SLI nforce4 mobo(not premium or deluxe series) and would like to update my bios (still have the first version supplied with mobo). On Asus site it warns to update chipset drivers before updating to latest version. I am not sure what these are, i have downloaded and installed the latest forceware drivers from nvidia.com, and I assume these are what it refers to, Can anyone confirm? Also, is it safe to flash bios directly with latest version? Or should I flash all versions after each other since mine till the last? Thank you all for the support.

The Forceware drivers are the chipset drivers.

You should flash to the most recent version. You do not need to flash each update, since the entire BIOS code is in each revision. Flashing each individual version would be a bad idea, since it increases the chances that something might go wrong in the flashing procedure simply because you're doing it more.

thnx DACHICKEN, one last question, i downloaded the chipset drivers from asus.com too, i havent tried them out yet, setup porgram looks the same like nvidia's but there are some files extracted in the package with names like asusxx.blablabla, starting with asus, maybe they are the nvidia drivers specificially for asus?? i dont want to stay installing these over the ones i installed from nvidia.com for nothing, which would you recommend? also, would you recommend updating bios at all for new functions, bug fixes if i have no probs at all at the moment? asus dont recommend it....buggers.
