I have a computer which died on me and I'd like to recover data from it and use it for backup.
I removed the HD and put it in a caddy to connect by USB
The HD appears in the file manager but it won't allow me to read all of the contents
I try to delete things from it that I wont need but it wont let me
I get error message saying I need to get administrators permission to read or delete certain files
Of course when computer was working I was the administrator but accessing from another computer I'm not recognized as such
Is there a way around this?

Usually you need to enter your password that you used for that harddrive

Try shutting down and disconnecting the drive. Reboot and wait until boot has completely finished before reconnecting.
