Read it and WEEP

lets get this started..
Here are my specs:
(Custom built comp)
1.5ghz Pentium 4 processor
512mb ram (i believe its ddr)
Nvidia Geforce fx 5500 gfx card (refurbished)
Fujitsu D1675 motherboard (Google it)
Windows xp

Here is the problem, i am having major lag when playing games. Different games, different problems.

Counterstrike: I would eventually get a blue hardware error screen that gives me an error like BAD_POOL_CALLER, i used to get nv4_disp.dll errors but i got a program that "closes the rx55 memory or something like that". Also, the frames per second is just shit,
no one is around, its at 40fps
3 people around, 20fps
big fire fight, 5fps.
Also when i hit the escape key, the fps sky rockets, usually by 200%.

Knight Online/Age of empires 3: I downloaded this game (knight) just because i was bored of runescape. The game would set up and install without a hitch, but then when game play starts, the game starts to lag, and its not because of my internet. This is what would happen:

1. Connect to a server
2. Loads server and all the other shit
3. Game plays for 2 seconds
4. Game freezes up, sound loops.
5. Sound stops, then 1 second later the game resumes play
6. Repeat steps 3-5

Very frustrating, looks like a good game yet i am unable to play it

Need for speed Most wanted/Carbon: Everything installs fine, start game, then this is what happens:

1. Menu's all fine, start new game, watch the movie... etc etc
2. As soon as the game goes from a movie to the real game, it freezes
3. Sound loops
4. Sound stops, then 1 second later the game resumes play
5. Repeat steps 2-4

With most wanted it is better than Carbon, i can play for half and hour on most wanted, then it starts doing that, on carbon its just 1 second.

Coke music: its an online game, game is choppy, thats all i have to say.

Its a game boy advance emulator, i play Pokemon on it (gotta catch em all), game runs fine for 15-30mins at full speed, then it slows down, pretty boring when that happens.

Some extra info:

* Defrag when the analysis says i should
* Search for spyware regularly
* Search for registry problems regularly
* Keep all my drivers updated
* Age of empires, and the need for speed games i got off a p2p program (Morpheus)
* My bios on my motherboard is out of date, and i cant upgrade it cause it needs a bootable cd-rom/floppy and i cant seem to make one, because i don't have a floppy drive or a cd-burner (i tried making one on another computer, didn't work)
* HELP IS VERY GREAT FULL

Well there you go, all input it appreciated, i don't need no flaming because who does... Don't tell me to upgrade my bios, defrag, search for spyware, or update my drivers..because i have (cept the bios )

 

Try BUYING the retail versions of those games you mentioned. That might fix your problems as you could have a bad images from what ever P2P program you used.

 

Are these demos that ye are running, or did you download the entire game?

If ye downloaded the entire game, via torrents, then ye won't get help here.

 

I'm going to say the best course of action, is to Upgrade. RAM, CPU, Graphics. Take note that if you have the Windows XP CD you can boot with that, and nothing but upgrading is going to solve your problem.
