Ready for a nap.

Anyone have one of those days that before noon you are just ready to walk out?

So far today I have had the entire plant's scale system fail, launched an investigation into a salesman's email from the previous month, tried to recover lost contact information in Outlook since said salesman was fired, had my ass chewed because the fired salesman's new PPC6700 is missing yet more contact information, been lied to about the size of said lost contact list, been lied to as to the whereabouts of said phone over the weekend, searched high and low for solution to the missing contacts (if they ever existed), been to a meeting with HR over security shortcomings made evident by the firing of said salesman, been in meetings with the owners over self same security shortcomings, been in another meeting to apologize for my 'over reaction', smoked half a pack of smokes trying to calm down, and finally had a moment to sit down.

If anyone needs me, I will be asleep in the server farm trying not to snore too loudly. It had best be an emergency. :)

Sorry you are having a tough day BM...here have a <<<<<<<<hug>>>>>>. Sounds like my week last week.

We learnt the hard way. Now when terminations are occuring, I'm at the said employees desk changing passwords before they return to empty their desk. It stops the removal, mis-use or forwarding of any confidential information.

    Enjoy your nap ;)

Well my day hasn't been that bad, but our terminal server is jacked up, ie keeps crashing, so no one cause use the net, or our webbased programs. But not quiet as bad your problems sound.

I appreciate the sentiments my fellow MG users.

It's not so bad actually, this is just a small bump on my way to eventual immortality.

The changing of passwords and what not was the topic of the meetings that I had with the owners. I also addressed why the fired salesman was allowed to sit at his computer for 3+ hours after being terminated and send out emails. And why I wasn't told of his termination first thing in the morning so that I could change all passwords and remove all accounts needed. Now just as soon as my boss shows up, I will retire to my comfy chair in the server farm and sleep dreaming of scantily clad women playing BF2 on Quad SLI machines.

Exactly the issue I had to address. Thankfully I discovered it before the employee had a chance to receive all the documents sent to their home e-mail, and I recalled all the emails back. Hehe.

I hate to let my inexperiance show with some things but how do you recall emails?

I was always under the impression that once the person hit send, it was gone and nothing could be done about it.

I guess it depends what software you are using as to whether you can do it. Here we use Outlook. If you open the e-mail that was sent which you wish to recall and then click the drop down Menu <Actions> on the top toolbar and then select "Recall this Message". Do this for each e-mail you wish to recall. Whether it works depends on how they read e-mail at the other end and the ISP they use. Thankfully for me, it worked on this occasion. Good luck!

    Thanks.

You guys must be using Exchange as a mail server too, then. I think that is the mail service that is needed to be able to do that. That is the service that is needed to do a bunch of other things with Outlook.

We don't use Exchange :( but it's not that big of deal right now. Thanks for the information though.

All that in one day? Wow. I thought my job was rough sometimes.

Worst part of my job is sometimes you don't sleep for a couple of days.

One day? That was before lunch.

But most days are pretty slack actually. Like I am hoping today is going to be. :)
