    Hi All:

Has anyone who subscribes to Real One or one of their streaming services ever had you machine reboot just as you're getting authenticated to log into the service?

It just happened twice to me and I de-installed the app. I'm going to try to re-install because I like seeing racing clips :)

    Thanks in advance.

I too agree Real Player is garbage, and necessary. Last night I was forced to update to the most current player to get it to even open a file I was trying to watch.
I keep RP chocked down pretty tight with the firewall. Real Networks have not had the best reputation as far as security and users information.

Real One IS garbage and NOT needed and I refuse to allow REAL to take over my computer (almost as bad as installing AOL!)

If I find something that needs Real Oh well... I move on and do not open it...

i only have RP installed for compatibility when im testing stuff, and i have removed anything from startup or registry related to it appart from the things needed for it to run WHEN I WANT IT TO not when they think i should be running it. Realshed.exe is a real pain, it takes up 100% of processing power, and you should get rid of it from startup ASAP if you have RP installed.

Unfortunatley the onlything you can watch realstreams in is Real player, or One, because the codec is protected, as far as i know.....

BTW the reboot sounds like a hidden BSOD from Xp, that whats happens unless you have the reboot option disabled. might be a hardware problem, but u neva know. if you get it with anything else, then let us know and we shall give you advice.......

Thanks a bunch for your tips. Yes, I have the auto-reboot enabled. After removing RP from my system I had a couple of "recoveries from serious error" at bootup and, of course, the system sent off the log file and deleted them. That bugs me... Anyway, things seem to be ok now. I'm going to just install RP on one of my other systems (the Dell is my "old faithful") and watch the RP content on that and leave my gaming machine safe from the terror of Real.

It's so frustrating... I consider myself pretty adept at managing startup apps and I was never able to stop Real from installing realsched.exe as a startup app every time I launched it. The bugger... grrr... :)
