Hello, at one time I had real radio installed which gave me a lot of problems, so I deleted it and install WM7,

It appears that some music I wish to d/l(free btw) requires real player. Looking at the d/ls on major geeks I see a real player alternative. Is this a good d/l and if anyone uses could you give me your opinion.

    Thanks

Its great, Media Player Classic is the only player you should ever need. There's also Quicktime Alternative, and ffdshow which will play almost anything without the standalone codecs (DivX, XviD, etc).

Hey Java... hope all is Ok with you?

Well if you want the Real Alternative Player installed + WMP Classic... then have whats ticked on my install plus tick PLAYER for Media Player Classic and you should be OK. ( I already have WMP Classic installed from an earlier Real Alternative install so dont need to install it again )

I use this app plus Quicktime Alternative too and had no problems with either, they are alot better than installng the apps from Apple and Real Media

Hey Halo, I had mplayer2.exe d/l. I was able to d/l media classic a few moments ago.
I am trying to d/l some free gospel music to my cp I am going put the link to this site here;http://members.tripod.com/~rosemck1/southern-gospel.html

Some of the songs I am able to load to wm7, however there are some other songs I try to down load that will open with ram file and while it runs it does not play any sound but does load the name to my docs.

When I click on that site in my docs it will not play and I get this msg:
mmsytem296 file cannot be played on the specified mci devise.

I wonder if you could check that site and see if you can get it to work.
The reason I put media classic on was the notes that said it would play ram files and had real player there also.

Sorry to be a problem, thanks for your help!!!

did you also install Real Alternative too? as thats needed to play .ram / .rm media files.

I just downloaded one track to test "Faith like that" and it played ok, I did have to download it tho, for some reason it didnt want to stream the song online.

That error message and associated help

Hello, I d/l real alternative, so not to sure how it works. I went to the same site i gave you earlier and the is a "John Starns" name that has a number of songs. These were the ones I could not get to work before, what it does now just sends the song name to my docs where most of my songs are stored. It doen.t play any music and when I got to the song on my docs I get this msg: Cannot play the file format not supported and WM class not registered. When I click on the details this appears:
    *************************************************
    Format File name extensions
    CD Audio Track .cda
    Intel Video Technology .ivf
Macintosh AIFF Resource .aif, .aifc, .aiff
Microsoft .asf, .asx, .avi, .wav, .wax, .wma, .wmv, .wvx, .wmp, .wmx
Windows Media Player skin file .wmz, .wms
Playlist files .asx, .wax, .wvx, .wmx, .m3u
Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .mpe, .mpv2, .m3u
Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) .mid, .midi, .rmi
    UNIX .au, .snd

Maybe it just will no work.

    Thanks!!
