Really Big OOPs

One day I had a problem when booting up the computer it couldn't find windows so I thought I would reload win98, had same problem about 6 months ago, well I screwed up this time because now I have 2. One is labeled Windows and the new one is Windows.000.

How do I get rid of the Win.000 without deleting all my old stuff as well?

When I click on AVG ( through Win.Desktop) I get an error message that I need IE5.01 or Office 2000 although AVG does run at startup.

Can't run CCleaner or HJT from disk drive because I get error messages that I'm missing "MSVBVM60.DLL" but I can find them inside of "Windows"

Currently I have access to this site from my sons computer because on mine it says it's "unable to creat dial-up networking entry" but when I try to reload it I get a message that it is all ready on my computer.

Help.

 

If I format the drive won't I lose everything?

 

If that's my only choice is it possible to link my computer to my sons so I can transfer some programs and files to save till I get mine straightend out?

Could I reload the program for my cd drive as new hardware then be able to copy the material to cd? Right now when I select copy file I only have the choice of drive A which is floppy.

 

Probably the easiest way to transfer your files to your sons, would be to take your hard drive out and put it in your sons computer as a slave. Make sure you change the jumper settings on your hard drive to slave. The information how to do this may be labeled on the drive or you could simply Google it. After you are all done and the drive is back into your computer boot the computer up with a Win98 boot disk. Make sure you only have one partition and format that partition. Now reinstall Win98.
