Really Need Better Internet Connection

I am trying to find a better way to connect to the internet than the slow dial up connection I have used for years however there is no broad band service of any kind available in my area. I tried to get a HughesNet satellite service installed but since I live back in the woods I would need to put the dish out in the nearby farm pasture and run the cable into the woods to my house. The distance, according to HughesNet, is too far to give me a viable signal. It's about two hundred fifty feet.

My question is this. Is there such thing as a "repeater" or "signal booster" that would make the satellite signal stong enough?

Hughes have given you the answer. Ask Hughes about signal boosters but I doubt they would work. No one here is going to know more than them.

As seen here, there are such devices, but not sure they would help with that distance. The problem with these is they also amplify any noise in the signal too and that can interfere with the reception at your modem. Most phone companies offer DSL broadband, yours doesn't?

The typical reason to have to run the dish so far from the house are obstacles. So I am wondering, if you live in the boonies, what obstacles are in the way? To get the dish closer, you might consider making some firewood from a few trees if trees are the problem. Or having a tall pole put up nearer the house to mount the dish on.

Thanks for the reply to all. I live deep under a forest tree canopy so cutting trees or a tall pole would not be much good. AT&T says I have to live within a certain distance of their sub station to get DSL....which I don't.
    Thanks, anyway.

And no cell service, I assume either. :( I don't know what else to suggest other than to see what DirectTV says.

I don't see why cutting trees or a tall pole is not an option. You just need a small window to aim the antenna through. Perhaps a tall poll and downing a few trees would do it.
