Internet explorer is acting really strangely for me. I'm only ever allowed to have one browser window on the taskbar at a time!

What happens is, I have internet explorer open, I'm surfing the web merrilywatching music videos and what-not, then when I try to open a second window to maybe go to google and search something, the original browser window closes its self and disappears from the taskbar. I'm left with one browser open at my home page. It's really frustrating!

I've used HJT and reset my web settings but it didn't help.

    Please help

    Thanks
    Nathan

Darn, that sounded exactly the same as my problem and I'd been fiddling around with IE advanced options before the problem, but it still didn't fix it

I've got Mozilla but I want IE to work as well because there are a few websites I visit regularly which currently provide content which is unsupported by firefox.

Thanks for all your help :D any other suggestions though?

Did you already try going into Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced Tab, & Unchecking the box by "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"? Be sure to click Apply & Ok. You may have tried this already, but I know that it was of help to me when I had a similiar problem.

    Good Luck!

In Internet Options, if you check the box "re-use windows for launching shortcuts", apply/ok, then go to Folder Options and mark "Open Each Folder In It's Own Window", apply/ok, Your next website selected will be the active site. all sites will be represented in the task bar for easy toggling between sites.

Thankyou very much but this problem fixed its self as many do. Thanks for all your help. My hard drive is acting up now so I'm off to the hardware forums. Byeeeeeee.
