OK.... so this dude brings me a PentiumII with 64mb of RAM running W98se. He then hands me a 5.25" floppy drive and says he wants it installed. WTF?!?! Of course I asked him why, and he said that he has lots of old DOS and WFW3.11 games on the big ol' floppies.... Great. So I dug thru numerous boxes until I found a cable that will accomodate the normal floppy, the jurassic floppy, and it actually plugs into the motherboard. I found about 4 or 5 cables that had the wrong 'pin out' blocked on the connector... So I installed this things after clearing the cobwebs and dead moths from inside it, boot up the PC, and of course it's too old to plug-n-play. The hardware wizard doesn't pick it up either. Now what? I haven't dealt with a 5.25" drive in any Windows based system, ever. If anybody has some insight, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Enter the machines bios. On the "main setup" screen (where time, hard disks, floppy, etc are) select floppy, then there should be a further choice of 3.5", 5.25", etc. If there is a 3.5" A floppy already in the system, this one will be B. (If two are accomodated in the bios.)

Yup. I found it. Thankfully this BIOS was old, and had a setting for a 5.25inch 1.2mb FDD Drive B:. Once I enabled it, and found the correct 5.25 (after 4 tries- who knew there were so many different 5.25 FDD's?), all was well. It showed up in My Computer, and we actually loaded up a really old Tetris for DOS.... wow....
    Thanks for the heads up.
