RealOne Player problems

anytime I download a movie off the net (meaning just opening the link, not right clicking -> "Save As") the movie is VERY choppy.

About every 5 seconds it'll freeze for a second or two, then continue. It's like having lag on an online game. I tried a fresh install, but it still didn't help.

Though it doesn't happen with any other play (WMP9). Nor does it happen on my dads computer (same system specs).

Is there maybe a setting set up wrong, or maybe the uninstall-reinstall didn't delete everything? As far as I know, I believe I reinstalled it...

    Thanks

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

The feed isn't keeping up with the playback, and it's hanging while waiting for the next chunk of data. I assume you & your dad are on the same connection. Are you on dial-up, or broadband? What download speed do you normally get?

You may simply have Real Player set up for too fast a connection, and it's trying to grab a high quality stream that you can't keep up with. Check your connection speed settings in Real's Preferences. Also check how much content it stores & buffers before starting to play; increasing that will cause a longer wait to start, but can help stay ahead of the playback.

Are you seeing this from all Real sites, or only one? Occasionally BellSouth's streaming movies get bogged down on either the Real or MediaPlayer sites, and one or the other will lag like that, which is their problem.

    All site.

Broadband/Cable. Yes we share a connection, though It happens evenwhen his computer isn't on.

Is it really streaming it., I don't think so. It DOWNLOADS into my temporary folder. It's not streaming as in if I click ahead of it, it has to rebuffer. It downloads into my temp folder and I can click ahead of it as much as I want.

    I'll check my connection setting . . .

    [edit]

Connection = 512kb (I even ran their test)
Buffer = 30 seonds of video - Should I increase it, or decrease it?

    Thanks.
