Realtek AC97 audio not responsive. Need help!

Here is my situation. I have a computer with a Soyo KT600 Dragon Plus v1.0 motherboard with Realtek AC97 onboard audio. I recently did a complete system format, and reinstalled everything and updated my OS fully. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. Before I installed the audio driver I was unable to get any sound whatsoever. I installed the driver, windows shows that it works, but no sound comes out of my speakers at all. I already checked several settings, and even looked for a possible IRQ conflict, but there isn't one. I'm completely stumped on whats causing me to have no sound, but if anyone has an idea please share.

 

Pardon me if you already checked but have you plugged in something to make sure that the speaker arent just dead? if not I would try re-installing the audio drivers as the can sometimes get left out....

 

No the speakers are fine, they're brand new. Worked perfectly before I did the system format. Just trying reinstalling the drivers, but that didn't yield any results. Feels like I'm missing something, I just can't figure out what it is.

 

Ok nevermind, problem solved. Turns out I thought I had that motherboard, but I had actually used a different one. So basically, I was using the drivers for a completely different board. Just one of those days I guess... =_=
