Realtek AC97 causing freezes

I tried to reinstall my drivers because of the no sound after hibernating bug, and now my computer freezes anytime I try to run anything with sound. Any suggestions? I'm not sure how to diagnose this problem. Thanks!

 

More than likely you have the wrong sound driver installed, list the make and model number of your pc. ed

After that A75 there should be an S with 3 -4 numbers after the S. ed

 

the toshiba tag on the bottom of my laptop is faded out, so I can't see any model numbers or anything. is there another way to find these numbers?

If your Realtek is listed in your add-remove programs, uninstall it. Go to start- control panel-add-remove programs. Then install this one,

Have been searching and reading and every thing i have read leads me to this,Smitfraud infection. Do you have any antivirus installed, any malware protection? ed

Not sure what to do at this point. Did you get to uninstall the old version? That is the correct driver according to Toshiba. ed
